Wildfire Damage Mitigation

Is your property located in a rural area or in the interface area between city and forests? Depending on your proximity to forest, your property may be at risk of damage or loss from a forest fire.

During the forestry years Richard spent at least part of 14 fire seasons as an initial attack crew foreman, and fire boss. During this time he was also responsible for inspecting and issuing burning permits for the Province of BC. He has also planned or participated in many prescribed fires in forest and rangeland areas, and provincial parks. He was an active participant in an Urban Interface Wildfire Simulation with the City of Salmon Arm and the Province of BC.

Richard would be pleased to conduct an assessment of your risk to wildfire. He will look over your home and property and make recommendations for reducing your home’s risk from wildfire.

If needed, Oakstead would also be happy to provide any needed assistance with fuel management on your property to reduce risk (i.e. removing ladder fuels, or reducing tree density).
